App update behavior
It looks like Google InApp Updates is now integrated. I noticed this executed on my app several days ago, but it seems it ran in the middle of the night.
I use SBP exclusively as a nightstand alarm clock, and if I recall, i was prompted to either complete the update or some other user intervention at 3am :-)
Can you limit the checks to app startup only?

Hi James Holcomb, that was actually using the Google Play update recovery tool. The UI looks like the in-app update tool. It was supposed to run only on start-up but since it doesn't, I plan on adding the In-App update library so I can have more control over. Meanwhile I won't be using this feature again unless there is a major bug or something. Thanks for the report.
